Tell us how you got into this fascinating line of work. It's obviously not a job you apply for.
Actually you can apply for it. Just as there are escort agencies catering for men needing an attractive woman companion, the same types of places exist for women who need a male partner for an evening or social engagement. Some of my clients are very successful women who don't have the time to date or find a male friend or sexual partner.
So, the women pay for your company; they pay to have sex with you.
Sex is never mentioned. That is a purely personal and private arrangement. A woman pays for an intelligent, articulate, and educated companion. I provide good conversation, I take an interest in my clients, in their work, their lives, their accomplishments, their ups and downs. We might go out for a meal, to the opening of a show or an exhibition, it can be any social function where a woman requires a companion. It is not prostitution.
You claim you are not paid for sex?
Not every meeting ends in sex. In fact, many do not. It is understood that I am not expected to pay for anything, but I might if I want to. Generally, all my expenses are covered by my companion. If she feels embarrassed to pay for me, which some women do, I will use my own credit card, or my companion will give me cash at the beginning of our evening together. I have a couple of companions who give me $500, $1000 or more when we meet just in order to take care of all the expenses.
I am a little confused. How does anyone know what things cost?
Oh, it is very simple. The woman pays a fee to the agency for my time, my services. Whatever I am given in addition to that is a personal matter between me and my companion. A lot of the women ask to meet me privately without the agency as a middleman. I shouldn't do that but I do. If I like a woman I am happy to meet her, find a solution that works for both of us without the agency's involvement, but you have to trust the woman.
If a companion, as you call her, wants sex with you, how does that happen?
Then we have sex.
How do you work out a rate for that? Is there a rate?
These are very personal questions, but as I said, it is a private agreement. I never, well rarely, ask directly for money. I am usually given anything from a few hundred dollars to a couple of thousand. I have been bought cars, clothes, shoes, rings, gym membership. I've been given gift cards and credit cards...
I've traveled to the Caribbean with one of my clients, to Florida and California with another one, I enjoyed two weeks in Europe with one of my longtime companions. On those trips, I am not expected to pay for anything. My travel, accommodation, and expenses must all be covered. And I receive reimbursement for my time.
In turn you provide what?
I am a friend, or perhaps a lover for some. My specific task it is to please and satisfy a client, keep her amused and entertained, make her feel desired and attractive, not to be bothersome but to be encouraging, to be helpful, a listener, to be the best possible company for whichever client I am with.
Do you enjoy your work?
I love my work. I enjoy women's company. I like the variety of women I meet. My companions are all successful women, they're in business, the media, the creative professions. I only ever meet a certain class of woman.
I assume you don't meet schoolteachers, secretaries, blue collar women.
I don't think I would have anything against that, but a high income or independent wealth is required to afford my services. It would take more than a schoolteacher earns to be my client for an evening.
You obviously do very well financially. Are you rich?
Some of my companions are millionaires or wives of millionaires. I am not that wealthy, but I am wealthier than most. I drive a good car ...
Question: A BMW?
Yes. I have a wonderful apartment by Lake Michigan. I do not carry any credit card debt. I have a lot of money saved, I can't tell you how much, but it is a substantial amount. I would never have had this standard of living as a, well, manager in a bank or other business.
Are you single?
My work makes it almost impossible to have a long term relationship with a woman. I don't see how it would work. I am like a second husband to some of my companions. I spend a lot of time with them. There is no time left over for a personal life of my own.
Do you miss not having a wife or girlfriend?
No, I don't, not really. I have a lifestyle that most men would kill for.
Do you ever have to spend time, or have sex with, women you do not like or are not attracted to?
Of course, it happens from time to time. But it's usually only one or two times. It doesn't work out for both of us, so the client has no need to be with me again. They look for a more suitable companion.
Is it possible for you to have sex with a woman you do not like?
Of course, if the rewards are high enough I can do it. I might not enjoy, but I can pretend to enjoy it. You weigh up the costs and the benefits, but nearly all my companions are very attractive women.
How old were your youngest and oldest companions.
I have been doing this for 15 years. My companions are older these days. When I started, my youngest client was in her late 20s. My oldest companion is 64. She is a beautiful women who could be 45, 50.
Have you ever had your feelings hurt, or suffered physical harm, by one of your clients.
It can be disturbing for a while if a good companion, or a long term companion, moves on, wants a different man, a younger man. You can lose thousands of dollars when a woman moves on. That can hurt. But I have never had physical harm done to me. And no woman has willfully hurt me, not that I am aware of. I don't talk about clients with other clients.
You have been able to steer clear of, how shall I put it .... disease?
I protect myself. I am safe.
Would you consider marrying a client?
I have been asked to marry by, oh, half a dozen women, but it wouldn't work. It would become a different kind of relationship. I am good at my job because I am aware of the boundaries, I know my role. I can't really place demands on the women, though I do sometimes. It is my job to serve, to provide, to be what the client wants me to be. Marriage to a client would not work -- but it is not impossible, it has happened to others.
How much longer do you think you can do this?
I have many good years in me. There are women of all ages, 60 and above, who require the services of a man like me. I could keep doing this into my sixties. I might not want to keep doing this for that long, but there is no retirement age. I am sure I will still be doing this well into my 50s.
