FrICTION Election 2008 |
Pick Of The Crop: The Best Comments Robert writes: "I read all the comments on this site. I have always felt that Sarah P. has the capability of being a good "cheerleader" but not a good "presidential leader". John McCain does not look that healthy to me and I am scared sh**less that she will reign over the country in any way possible. She's a very SPOOKY person and a very bad running mate choice." Anita writes: "I am 76 years of age and have followed Katie's Couric's career for many years. She is a highly intelligent woman and certainly does a wonderful job. The interview she did with Sarah Palin was terrific. It was insightful and she asked very easy questions that Sarah Palin should have been able to answer if she had any amount of intelligence. Katie has always been a great interviewer and should be given more of these pieces to do. Whenever she is on I make a point of watching her show. Let's have more of these." Janie writes: "If you don't know the word of God and do not have a personal relationship with Him, you will not have His wisdom. This lack of wisdom has once again shown Katie is not qualified to interview born again Christians." Maggie writes: "I think she Sarah Palin is smarter than a fox. She's toying with all of you. She points out the obvious and you can't accept it. Katie, your facial expressions were the worst I have ever seen. How biased can you be? Sarah P. is beautiful and she's got beautiful legs too. Best of all She's got an honest soul and says it like it is. Good, bad, indifferent and gaffes and all. She's trying to get you guys to lighten up. She's refreshing. Great Pick Mr. McCain." Aida writes: "Jackie N (below) what does Katie Couric.'s career have to do with Sarah Palin? It is clear to see why you are a supporter. In working for a publisher of a scholarly magazine, I have learned, as all journalists know also, that to say something and not be able to back it up with credible and checkable facts is like pouring water through a sieve. If you recall (or read, unlike your girl Sarah), this is how where Dan Rather erred. Your comment is as empty as Sarah's responses. Why and how is she smart? Why and what would make her a good VP? Hey, I got a good idea. Why don't YOU run for VP?" Jackie N writes: "Katie you needed to lose your attitude with Sarah Palin.. She is a smart woman and I thought you were, but if you are for Barack Obama, then you are not as smart as I thought you were. America better wake up before it is too late. Katie needs to take care of her own messed up career and leave Sarah Palin alone. She will be as good a VP as any man or woman will ever be or was. I've always liked Katie but now she has messed up as far as I'm concerned."
Clive writes: "It's really not a problem that Obama is less experienced than McCain. What matters as much as the number of years you've worked in Washington is whether you've got a good mind, whether you surround yourself with a good team of experts and advisers. There is evidence enough that Obama has a brilliant mind; he's certainly a brilliant organizer. The same cannot be said of McCain, and definitely not Palin. Obama will be a brilliant president." Caroline writes: "Sarah Palin is the best thing that could happen for Obama! She is NOT a good representative for professional political women. John McCain goofed when he put her on the ticket. When he loses to Obama he will look back at that as his worst mistake in judgment. It is obvious that McCain is not connected to the middle class American. Like Obama says, "He just doesn't get it!" We're tired John of our troops being recycled until exhausted, we're tired of America not being respected in the world, in short we're just tired!" Kevin writes: "Mccain should have talked to this woman before he chose her. And if a woman was the necessary choice., he should have found a different one." Independent Sam writes: "I know this is like cussing in chapel, but how does being a prisoner of war qualify you to be president? It's a sacrifice, I agree, but how does five years in prison in a foreign country make you presidential material?" Sam writes: "John McCain is at an age where he should be thinking about retiring. His mind and body are not sharp and fir enough to cope with the most demanding job in the world. Watch out for senior moments." Genuine writes: "Well, I was looking for actual information on the Couric Palin interview, and I started reading the banter on your excellent site. You are undoubtedly liberals because all you can do is poke fun at conservatives because they are different than you. I like the McCain Palin ticket." Kathleen writes: "Sarah Palin is not only the most unqualified candidate for Vice President in recent history, she is so ignorant it's scary. I watched the Katie Couric interview and was terrified that this woman would be a heart beat away from the Presidency. I can't believe the number of people who still support the McCain Palin ticket. I wonder how many of them are not voting for McCain but against a black man." Ruth writes: "How many of you liberals will be smiling when Obama introduces Sharia Law in America and you are forced to bow down before a God who is not American. At least with Palin we are free to worship Christ, the only God of all true and patriotic Americans." Gordon writes: "People talk about John McCain as though he is a general, admiral, or colonel at the very least, as htough he has led thousands of men into battle. He left the Navy as a captain, hardly a senior rank. He didn't lead much at all, as General Wesley Clark has pointed out. In Clark's words, "I don't think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president." .A captain is middle management at most. If he was a general, I might listen to him, but a captain, come on!" Venice writes: "Katie, I remember when you first started this job you have now you were terrible and you didn't know a thing about your job either. You crewed up many times as I can recall. So I don't think you should throw stones, my dear .Wake up America the media is biased; they would rather have Obama as their leader so he can bring down our country. If he's elected you could expect the nation to divide like never before. Why is it not clear to the people of America that Obama has brainwashed the media for sure and a lot of Americans . His well known so called friends are scary enough for me not to vote for Obama. If he becomes president, you will all see his true colors ." Extended preview of the VP debate Phil writes: "I am tired of the attacks on Sarah Palin. She can do as well as the Idiots ln Washington who have done next to nothing on both sides except argue and finger point."
Ron writes: "You forgot one important weakness under Biden's column. He has been in government for 26+ years and look at where we are!"
Alysa writes: "Are ya having fun slammin' Sarah? I'm actually not voting for her, but man, are you guys slick." Sarah writes: "Katie isn't trying to save America, she is just trying to save herself. She is getting a little long in the tooth, and needs to be replaced by a younger, more sophisticated LADY." LauraLynn writes: "Go Katie! You brought to light Palin's moose-hunting, know nothing brain. Dead ignorance! No one really knows God's will, but I think its safe to bet it is NOT letting her anywhere near the oval office." Susan writes: "This is sad. If I could vote, which I cannot, as I am a resident of the UK, I would vote for Obama. I have been PAYING ATTENTION since 2006. How an educated person can actually vote for the Republicans I don't know. WAKE UP AMERICA! IT is time for real leadership." Extended preview of the VP debate
MCL writes: "I'm scared that this was a mistake by brother John. God help us if anything should happen to John should he win the election. But, at the rate things are going, that is doubtful. From White House to S..t House we would go." Jersey Girl writes: "It's ironic how a less experienced female vice-presidential nominee gets more criticism than a less expeienced male Presidential candidate. John McCain is way more experienced than Obama. That goes without saying. Why doesn't the press jump all over that? The fact that he is 72 years old does not faze me. His mother is 96! There once was a time when more mature citizens were treated with respect. He served our country well and has the scars to prove it. Focus on McCain's experience, people!"
Jackie writes: "This lady wants to be president more than vice president ..... McCain better get a taste tester." Audrey writes: "We all know that McCain is not the youngest guy of them all. With that being said, do we really want Palin being his VP? I mean in this case I'd say she has a pretty good chance of becoming president if McCain is voted into office." Jenny writes: "I am very scared for America if McCain wins this election and he dies while in office. America will be in the hands of a BIMBO!" THE CASE AGAINST PALIN: An impartial look at the evidence
William writes: "Note to Sarah: I can see the space station from my house. No, that does not make me an astronaut." Julia writes: "Bottom line, who could have said what the Bush doctrine is? Sarah talked about one and there were four different ones identified at four different dates and largley created by the media. It was a trick question that apparently even the interviewer didn't know the answer to . Also, I would be interested to see what the press and Saturday Night Live would have done if Sarah made as large a gaffe as Biden not knowing who was president in 1929 when the market crashed and not knowing that there were no televisions for the president to address the American people. Talk about ignorant!"
Simon writes: "Arizona is next to Mexico, Alaska is next to Canada and Russia. Wow, McCain and Palin have huge foreign policy experience by virtue of where they live. What team!" Fay writes: "What are Palin's approval ratings now? Can someone please report on that. I would be stunned if more than 30 percent of voters view Palin favorably. 80 percent at least must think she is not qualified to be VP. Only the most ardent conservative would argue otherwise."

Bonnie writes: "I'm a 33 year resident of Alaska and I can tell you that many Alaskans are neither enamored with nor in support of Sarah's candidacy. To think of her as the person who could possibly step in to replace John McCain as the leader of our country is terrifying! It wasn't until John McCain announced Sarah as his running mate that I made the firm decision to vote for Obama." JJ writes: "Katie's questions were things we want to know, why are some people saying she was unfair to Palin. This is the most puzzling part of the comments I have read. Just because Palin didn't know the answers, is it Katie's fault. Whether you are Republican or Democrat, don't you want the answers to these questions? So blame the interviewer, if the person doesn't know--- I don't think so." Terri writes: "Great interview, Katie! Did Palin attend a four-year college? She is making women look stupid. Please no more interviews, I can't stay up every Saturday to watch SNL. LOL" Kathleen writes: "No thanks, Sarah. You are not vice president material. You seem nice and a good mom, you need to go back to Alaska and take care of your baby." THE CASE AGAINST PALIN: An impartial look at the evidence

Larry writes: "I have a college degree, well actually four of them. I've traveled so much that my passport is darn near full. If Palin is qualified to be the VP or even the Pres, then I should be, at least, qualified to be the UN Secretary General... please, please, I can do it! I'll pass out nukes to everybody so that the playing field is always equal and fair. And on those boring, slow, we don't have any wars today kind of days we can have moose dragging races across the artic tundra just to spice things up!"
Jimmy SmartBomb writes: "You are all dirty, no-good, lying, liberal bags of excrement. I hope a veteran throws a grenade into one of your hippie war protests!" N.S. writes: "I find all of you that are pissing and moaning about Couric being too hard on Palin amusing and delusional. She's is running for the second highest position in our government, she better be able to handle some tough questions. She's not some sweet hockey mom who just wants her 15 minutes of fame. She wants to be VP. As such, she needs to answer to the people and convince us she's up to the job. So far she's failed miserably!" Arlene writes: "I think that Sarah Palin is an insult to American women. She is unprepared and does not represent me nor the majority of women I know. I think if Obama was white he would be winning this election hands down. I am sorry to those that are offended by this but Sarah Palin is not ready and I do not see her ever being ready in the near future to be Vice-President of United States. Charm wins beauty contests and does not qualify you to be a V.P or President, or does it? So sad. I fear for our county if McCain and Palin are elected." Lorena writes: "Have we come to such a point in our country that we cannot even take an interview at face value? The questions Couric asked are the questions we deserve answers to, because this woman will be one step away from the most powerful job in the world. Couric asked and Palin answered and because Palin answered badly, somehow Couric is in the wrong. Wake up, people. It is obvious that Palin is a confident, genuine person who wants to do her best for her party and her country. It is equally clear that she is in NO way qualified for the VP position, even if all she does is attend state funerals. McCain made a calculated choice and I pray it proves to win the election for Obama/Biden."
EAT AND DRINK LIKE AN ALASKAN
Dianne writes: "When Hilary was running for nomination she was thrown to the wolves and everyone had a sense about her ideas and character. Why is it that is so different for Sarah Palin. I think the interview has opened up the eyes of many people and for all those people who think tha Palin is the "it factor", you need to remove the wool from your eyes and see that she and McCain are not the answer for this country." Judith writes: "You people, liberals, Katie Couric, Sarah-haters are all headed to hell for your destructive ways and evil words. I am a compassionate conservative who knows right from wrong. Sarah is on the Lord's path. You evil monsters are going to hell. Be damned, all of you. May you, your kids and parents rot and burn for all eternity!" Rosie writes: "It should be illegal for worms and grubs like you to vote. You hate God so much that your minds and entrails have become twisted and rotted. You are scum, all you liberals. Repent, otherwise the Gates of Hell await you all. Palin is one of us. If Christ could vote, he would vote McCain-Palin."
Pat writes: "Each time I hear Sarah Palin interviewed, it reminds me of when beauty queen contestants have to answer certain questions. I think she would be more successful in that arena! I think it would be pathetic if the Republicans win. You think we are in trouble now." Linda writes: "I can not believe some of the comments on Sarah Palin. Lets be real, folks, why are we blaming Katie because Sarah Palin is not ready for the office of the vice presidency? This country has had some good presidents, republicans and democrats but Palin and McCain has got to be a joke. People cannot be serious about casting a vote on these two. Their own party would prefer that someone else step in. This is real sad and an embarrassment to the country. Other countries are watching and they must be thinking no wonder our economy is failing, look at the idiots that are in charge. Give me a break." Sean writes: "Two things are becoming very clear; (1) A lot of people in this country will vote for any idiot as long as they are not a person of color; and (2) we will all become much more religious if McCain and Palin somehow win this election because at that point, only God will be able to save us!" Norma writes: "How did she become governor of Alaska? My 15 year old son would make a better vice president. Bin Laden is laughing at what a dummy McCain picked to run with him." VK writes: "Watching Palin interviews are extremely painful. How does she not know she is way over her head? She should resign and really put "Country First." Jerry writes: "Apparently a lot of people don't understand that John Insane McCain allowed the right wing nutcases to pick his running mate for him as part of his sucking up to them. Where Bush merely used religion to get votes, Palin is a true believer and would turn the country into a "Left Behind" miniseries!" Extended preview of the VP debate
Bud writes: "Katie, do you ever look in the mirror or do you want the guest to be so intrigued with your eyes that they can't come to a complete answer before you throw one or two more?" Victoria writes: "John McCain is not blameless. He picked this idiot woman. This is the most shocking political decision since Watergate." Colin writes: "The reason we have long primary seasons and endless campaigns is to find the very best candidates -- to allow the cream to rise to the top. It is obvious to everyone except the most biased and blind supporter that Sarah Palin is not one of the finest politicians and brains in the country. In fact, she's probably one of the most stupid public figures in the nation ... and I am a Republican." June writes: "My god please voters wake up. Will you vote for someone who kills everything that lives and walks. If she has no feelings or love for wild animals how can you give your loved ones to her hands . If McCain dies she is the President of the United States. This country was built on foundations of love of life. Women are supposed to be loving, warm, compassionate humans yet this person is a con of all that. God help America if she gets elected."
