Shock jock Limbaugh in limbo on Hawaii

Conservative darling and radio host Rush Limbaugh was released from hospital in Honolulu on January 1, 2010, after being rushed there from the Kahala Hotel and Resort in Hawaii, where he was suffering from chest pains.

It is unknown whether the exertions of a romantic adventure were placing an excessive burden on Limbaugh's huge and out-of-shape frame, which has grown to obese levels after years of good living and cigars.

With the Republican Party is disarray, Limbaugh is considered by many, certainly his huge radio audience, to be its de-facto leader.

Three-times married, drug-addicted, barely religious Rush Limbaugh is not the conservative icon he'd have us believe. Limbaugh's conservatism is nothing more than his money-spinning brand.

Let's judge Rush Limbaugh, a college dropout and failed academic, the way he judges others. Let's look at his actions, not just his many words.

This will settle the question of whether Rush is a role model for modern conservative men or merely a conniving hypocrite whose addiction to conservatism is about the bottom line, not values.

Good conservatives are stayers, not quitters. They value a good education and make the most of educational opportunities. Rush dropped out of Southeast Missouri State University, hardly an Ivy League institution, after two semesters and one summer.

Good conservative men marry and stay married. They have kids and are loving fathers. They don't engage in extra-marital nonsense. If the going gets tough, they grit their teeth and accept life's downsides.

Rush Limbaugh

Cigar-loving Rush Limbaugh has ben rushed to hospital in Honolulu with chest pains.

Rush Limbaugh has been married three times. His first marriage lasted about three years, his second five years (getting better), and his third, to an aerobics instructor, Marta, lasted 10 years. Rush and Marta lived in separate houses. Rush, through no fault of his own, has no children.

An upstanding conservative avoids drugs and addiction of any kind. Ooops, Rush Limbaugh announced on his radio program in 2003, I need to tell you today that part of what you have heard and read is correct. I am addicted to prescription pain medication.

Rush More

Rush Limbaugh

Rush has failed at love because: I am too much in love with myself.

Rush on religion: Maybe there's not enough religion, maybe there's not enough prayer on college campus these days.

Rush on moral fiber: Character matters; leadership descends from character.

Rush on women's rights: Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream.

Rush on gay issues: The difference between Los Angeles and yogurt is that yogurt comes with less fruit.

Rush on economics: You could afford your house without the government if it weren't for the government.

Rush on misuse of drugs: Drug use, some might say, is destroying this country. And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. ... And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up.

Limbaugh came to the attention of police in Florida during an investigation into a black market drug ring in Palm Beach County. The authorities were looking into the illegal sale of the prescription drugs OxyContin and hydrocodone. Limbaugh, who lives in Palm Beach County, was named as a possible buyer.

In a 2006 plea bargain, charges against Limbaugh were dropped in exchange for payment of $30,000, agreement to undergo 18 months of drug abatement therapy, and his agreement to submit to random drug testing.

In June 2006, Rush was detained at Palm Beach International Airport after police found a bottle of Viagra, which treats erectile dysfunction, in his bag. The prescription was not in his name. Limbaugh was detained for more than three hours at the airport after returning from a vacation in the Dominican Republic.

A sound conservative is a man of faith who regularly attends church and has a personal relationship with his savior Jesus Christ. Rush Limbaugh is a Methodist and publicly religious (he has to be in order to keep his radio audience), but in private he's agnostic, not wishing to be guided by the edicts of others. Limbaugh has to stay silent -- very difficult for him -- on most religious and morality issues because his personal life proves he has not lived according to the principles he preaches.

A sound conservative should be understanding of other people's pain and suffering. He should not mock the less fortunate. In October 2006, Limbaugh said of actor Michael J. Fox, who suffers from Parkinson's disease: He is exaggerating the effects of the disease. He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. . . . This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting.

Michael J. Fox had appeared in political ads in favor of stem cell research, which prompted further Limbaugh attacks: Michael J. Fox is allowing his illness to be exploited and in the process is shilling for a Democratic politician.

Good conservatives do not make racially inflammatory remarks. Trouble is, racial tolerance often goes hand in glove with conservatism. In 2003, when Limbaugh uttered racially insensitive comments about quarterback Donovan McNabb on ESPN, he was simply continuing a conservative tradition, in which case he lived up to conservative ideals.

Limbaugh said of McNabb: I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well, black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. Limbaugh resigned from ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown pre-game show shortly afterward.

All of the above tells us Rush will not be making a move to public office any day soon. He wouldn't survive even the mildest vetting: failed marriages, affairs, drug addiction, college dropout, insensitive remarks. Rush Limbaugh is a bohemian lout, not a conservative in good standing.

Gert, Eindhoven So many marriages could be saved or made even better if couples could just learn to play in bed. Sex should be fun, not a job, not hard work. Thank you for pointing out that role play can be the spice that is needed to revive a tired marriage.

Bruce, Dublin This is great in theory, but what do you do if your wife won't play. My old lady just wants it the regular way with the lights off. If I told her I needed playtime in the bedroom, she would never open her legs.

Simone, Brussels The main thing men need to do is take time and build up a love-making atmosphere. They should not rush their woman. And they need to get in shape and lose their beer bellies.
