SARAH PALIN hits Fox News and NBC to tell Matt Lauer and Greta van Susteren to defend her role in John McCain's falied presidential bid. Her job was to "brag McCain up", something he was unable to do for himself. She didn't ask for the $150,000 makeover but nor did she refuse to wear the clothes.

Give Palin Enough Rope ...

[Evangelicals Angry and Upset Over Obama Victory]

Sarah Palin, speaking as though English is her second language, told Matt Lauer of NBC and Great van Susteren of Fox News that she was sorely needed in the election campaign to boost John McCain  because he "just can't seem to do for himself, bless his heart."

She wanted to "brag him up a bit". She said she was popular among the GOP base because "it was just for the representation of a woman on the ticket, a mom, somebody who loves this country so much, somebody very, very committed to policies that I believe will progress this country in the right direction." Without any hint of self-awareness, Palin called her rallies "Sarah-centric".

She resented being so firmly controlled by McCain's aides, saying: "I would have loved more opportunities to speak to the American people about what I'd like to see of - happen there with our country."

She denied any part in requesting or wanting the $150,000 of designer outfits that were bought for her. Her job was simply to accept the clothes and wear them. Perhaps she should have used a word that is popular in the sexual abstinence movement she so strongly advocates: No. Why, if we are to believe Gov. Palin, didn't she say, "I don't want the outfits, I don't need them. Nor do I need $20,000 to be spent on make-up".

Palin said that God might show her a way to national prominence in years to come: "I'm like, 'O.K., God, if there is an open door for me somewhere' - this is what I always pray I'm like, 'Don't let me miss the open door... And if there is an open door in 2012 or four years later, and if it is something that is going to be good for my family, for my state, for my nation, an opportunity for me, then I'll plow through that door.

It has certainly been fun, Gov. Palin but we think Alaska needs you too badly for you to be wasting your time running for president. Thanks, but no thanks in other words.
